CarlosAlexis Cruz

CarlosAlexis Cruz is an associate professor of theatre and currently serves the president of the Association for Theatre in Higher Education (ATHE). Cruz is the director of the proposed Master of Fine Arts in Community Centered Practice in the College of Arts + Architecture and the founder and artistic director of the Nouveau Sud Circus Project which he founded with a McColl Award from the Arts & Science Council.

Cruz is also the 2023-24 urbanCORE Senior Fellow for Faculty Engagement. As urbanCORE faculty fellow, Carlos designed curriculum for a course that is being offered during the Fall 2023 all and Spring 2024 semesters. The curriculum is designed to help him lead a project aimed at addressing institutional challenges that faculty face in their endeavors to conduct high-quality engaged scholarship.
